What We Offer at Our Clinic

Acupuncture

There are a variety of reasons to consider acupuncture. It is a holistic way to detoxify the body, treat disorders and disease and aid in various types of discomfort within the body. The remarkable thing about acupuncture intervention is that it is believed to help patients recover faster. Acupuncture therapy is known to revitalize the body and act as an immune booster.

Many people make use of this alternative therapy to minimize stress levels and improve blood circulation in their body. Acupuncture is known to prevent particular ailments from becoming acute and severe. Apart from these health benefits, acupuncture has been proven effective as a therapy to treat problems such as headaches, migraines, arthritis, weight reduction, women’s health issues, addiction, substance abuse, inflammation and pain.

Diabetic Foot Care

Diabetes can cause nerve damage and poor blood flow or circulation to the legs and feet. As a result, people with diabetes are less likely to feel a foot injury, such as a blister or cut. Diabetes can make these injuries more difficult to heal. Unnoticed and untreated, even small foot injuries can quickly become infected, potentially leading to serious complications. Our chiropodist has years of experience helping patients with diligent foot care and proper education. She provides complete assessments, including checking for wounds and cuts, sources of infection, and blood circulation through the feet. She also teaches patients how diabetes specifically affects the feet and how to care for them.

Custom Foot Orthotics

Custom foot orthotics are shoe inserts prescribed by chiropodists to change the body’s biomechanics when performing activities such as running or walking. Before prescribing orthotics, a chiropodist observes how the patient walks. Based on the gait analysis, the chiropodist will design the orthotic to help correct the patient’s motion and alleviate any other concerns such as the formation of callouses and corns.

BTL Shockwave therapy is a new non-invasive solution for musculoskeletal pain. The extracorporeal shockwave therapy is frequently used in physiotherapy, orthopaedics and sports medicine. Applications are mostly associated with the treatment of chronic muscular and tendon disorders, back and cervical pain. Most common indications include painful shoulder, epicondylitis, low back pain, Achilles tendon pain, patellar tendonitis and trigger points.

Wart Removal

Plantar Warts are painful bumps on the soles of the feet caused by a virus. Besides shaving off the wart itself, the underlying root must be destroyed to prevent the wart from recurring and spreading. A chemical is applied to the root with a cotton swab. The number of applications and visits required for permanent removal depends on the severity of the wart or cluster of warts.

Physiotherapy is a drug-free health care practice. Physiotherapists work in partnership with individuals of all ages to break down the barriers to physical function whether that means working with patients pre and post surgery, helping people come back from illness and chronic disease, injury, industrial and motor vehicle accidents and age-related conditions. Physiotherapists also play an important role in health promotion and disease prevention. Physiotherapy is the treatment of preference for many who suffer from pain whether in the back or neck or joint pain such as hips, knees, ankles, wrists, elbows or shoulders.

Physiotherapy has proven to be effective in the treatment and management of arthritis, diabetes, stroke and traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and a range of respiratory conditions offering those afflicted with tools and techniques to acquire and maintain an optimum level of function and pain-free living.

Toenail Removal

A damaged or ingrown toenail can cause extreme pain and infection in the toe. Although infections can be fought using antibiotics, the problem will reoccur if the problematic toenail is not corrected. In some cases, toenail surgery may be necessary.

In a Partial Nail Avulsion, the chiropodist removes part of the affected toenail on one or both sides. In a Total Nail Avulsion, the entire toenail is removed. The chiropodist then uses medications to prevent regrowth of the toenail. All ingrown toenail surgeries are performed with a local anaesthetic.
